Pulled from the scorched pages of Dante’s Inferno and carved by Gustave Doré’s unforgiving hand, "Taken and Twisted" wraps your stride in the coils of the damned. This visceral, bone-on-black design features a scene from the Eighth Circle of Hell - where thieves are punished by being fused with serpents, their forms mutating in grotesque choreography. Bodies writhe, flesh merges, and identity is devoured. What once was a man becomes something else entirely - stolen by the very theft they committed.

A design is charged with mythic tension and biblical dread, lit by an invisible, baleful glow that emanates from Doré’s masterful linework. The anguished figures stretch and spiral across the panels, evoking motion even in stillness. Each footfall feels like an echo through Malebolge.

As for the Laments? They were notoriously fascinated by transformation and punishment, particularly when stitched into a narrative so beautiful it felt holy. A rare Lament copy of the Inferno was said to be bound in serpent skin, with this very engraving branded across its cover.

Wear them carefully. These are not to be taken lightly.

Wonders Whispered About These Wares

Powers Bestowed Upon the Possessor

Writheblood Resilience – The strength to survive transformation, no matter how merciless or monstrous it becomes.

Serpent’s Claim – The gift of moving through betrayal, sin, and suffering without losing the sharpness of your will.

Punishment Made Beautiful – The eerie ability to transmute pain, loss, and punishment into something artful—and terribly alive.

Jaded Lament Discovery Note

The Laments unearthed this infernal vision etched not in ink, but scorched into an obsidian tablet sealed beneath a basilica floor. It was said the tablet could only be revealed in firelight and wept ash when touched. Bound within a reliquary of serpentbone and stitched vellum, it accompanied a rare edition of Inferno once owned by the Scholiarch of Ruin—an infamous Lament who vanished after claiming the engraving “bit him back.”

No date. No artist’s mark. Only a single Latin phrase scrawled beneath the image:

“Quod furatus es, sis.”

(Become what you have stolen.)

Hymns to Strengthen Thy Enchanted Relic

Lend Thine Ear, Fortify Thy Powers. Invoke these chants whilst donning thy wares, that the enchantment might seep deeper into thy bones.

(1) "Come Crashing" – Eivør
An epic, elemental cry that feels like sinking into and rising out of a mythic storm.
(2) "Blood // Water" – grandson
A snarling, raw anthem of consequence, rebellion, and twisted reckoning.
(3) "Medusa" – Kailee Morgue
Slick, dark pop charged with mythic horror and self-aware monstrosity.
(4) "Heavenfaced" – The National
A slow, desolate descent into guilt, transformation, and the soft erosion of the self.
(5) "Snake Song" – Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan
A dusky, whispering track where betrayal coils through every breath—ancient, inevitable, and quietly damning.

sorrow, and the beautiful collapse of what once was human.
