Jaded Lament Discovery Note

Recovered from a frost-cracked trunk deep within the cellar vaults of the abandoned House of Varre, a cliffside manor overlooking the icebound Gulf of Bothnia. The trunk was sealed with wax and silver wire, as if to keep something in—or out. Local whispers claimed the house’s last heiress vanished one winter night, seen riding into the blizzard astride a great white bear. Inside the trunk, the shoes lay wrapped in a pelt of snow-matted fur that never melted, even before the hearth’s fire.
